Dr Alexander Gilbert

Dr. Gilbert is a specialist Nephrologist with expertise in the comprehensive diagnosis and management of kidney disease. His clinical practice spans the full spectrum of renal medicine, including glomerulonephritis, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, dialysis and kidney transplantation.

 

He completed his medical degree at Griffith University in 2013 and pursued Basic Physician Training at Westmead Hospital. He undertook Nephrology specialist training at Royal Prince Alfred, Concord and Liverpool Hospitals and was awarded his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2021.

 

Dr. Gilbert currently works as a Staff Specialist Nephrologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and is in the final year of his PhD at the University of Sydney. His research focuses on the role of the gut microbiome in chronic kidney disease and kidney transplantation, and he has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Gilbert has particular expertise in kidney biopsy and is involved in training junior nephrologists in this procedure.

 

He is committed to personalised, evidence-based care and is passionate about helping patients optimise their kidney health at every stage of their journey.
